ADJ is set to unveil the AX2 — an advanced, fully integrated DMX control solution — at the LDI trade show in Las Vegas this month. Compact, powerful, and built around the proven ONYX platform from Obsidian Control Systems, the AX2 represents a major expansion of ADJ’s control offerings. Designed to give users the power to bring their vision to life and tell their story, it is both intuitive and capable. Featuring an integrated touchscreen, physical controls, a powerful media engine (DYLOS) , and up to 32 universes of output, it delivers the speed, precision, and creative freedom that today’s lighting professionals demand.

Built for designers, programmers, production companies and venues that require increased control without added complexity, the AX2 is engineered to be easy to learn, approachable for new programmers, and deeply competent for seasoned professionals. The console’s blend of tactile hardware, intuitive touchscreen navigation, powerful processing, and advanced software features make it easy to create complex looks with efficiency and confidence. Built on the solid foundation of Obsidian Control Systems’ command-line-driven ONYX software platform, it offers all the features a professional lighting designer requires in an easily portable all-in-one device. For those new to ONYX, there are a wealth of training resources and YouTube videos freely available online to help users quickly familiarize themselves with the software.

Powerful All-in-one Hardware Solution

At the heart of the AX2 is a bright 15.6” adjustable full HD multi-touch display — which folds down for protection in transit — supported by two optional external 4K touch monitors for expanded visual control. The surface offers ten 60mm playback faders — each with four assignable function buttons, four digital rotary encoders with push functionality and status LEDs, a full numeric keypad and command section, and an additional 3.5” mini touchscreen. Internally, a powerful Intel i5 Hexa-Core processor, 16GB of RAM, and high-speed 500 GB NVMe SSD storage provide exceptional responsiveness and the ability to process 32 universes of DMX directly on the console. Built for touring reliability, the device is constructed to the highest possible standard with premium-quality components and a robust external casing.

Connectivity is extensive, including four 5-pin DMX ports, dual Gigabit Ethernet ports for Art-Net, sACN, and ONYX X-Net, plus full MIDI and SMPTE support — making the AX2 ideal for timecoded shows and multimedia environments. The console is also fully compatible with the NX P playback wing from Obsidian Control Systems, allowing users to expand hands-on control as productions grow.

Versatile Software including DYLOS

With the integrated DYLOS Media Engine offering five zones of pixel control, users can easily create sophisticated media-driven looks, dynamic pixel effects, and layered visual compositions — all from within the unified ONYX workflow. DYLOS elevates lighting control by merging media and lighting into one fluid creative environment, redefining what’s possible with a compact console.
